2010 Olympics prompts influx of hockey hotties

THE life of a professional hockey player must be rough.

Playing in front of thousands of adoring fans every night, cashing massive pay cheques and partying like a rock star, and that’s not even the best part. Toothless, bruised and crude though they are, gorgeous women love their Olympic hockey heroes, and said heroes seem more than happy to return the favor.

My personal favorite of the exclusive hockey WAG (wives and girlfriends) club is the angelic Emma Andersson, the fiance of bearded, greasy Swedish centreman Henrik Zetterberg.

Andersson first claimed to fame in Expedition Robinson 2001 as one of the contestants, one year after her television adventure she launched a singing career releasing the music album Who I Am. Among her best known songs are Weightless a duet with Bosson, though the album never became a success.

Equally frustrating is the Finnish forward Niklas Hagman and his wife: Miss Finland 2003 Piritta Hannula. In any other world, Niklas’ bearish advances would have been correctly snubbed by the beauty queen, but thanks to hockey, these two now share the same bed.

The english speaking world doesn’t seem to know much about Ms. Finland except that she went on the be the runner-up in the Miss Europe competition and has an absolute dynamite body.

I don’t think that it’s possible to talk about hockey girlfriends without bringing up the stunning Niki Taylor. She and Captain Canada Scott Niedermayer had a clandestine relationship that is rumored to be ongoing. Given the nature of the two, they have never been photographed together, which is fantastic news for us because that means more space for Nikki.

Taylor is one of the world’s most recognizable models and has been featured on every magazine cover that you can name. In May 1996, she set a record by appearing on the cover of the six major American women’s fashion and fitness magazines in the same month. Well done Scotty.

Another member of the very old guard, Jaromir Jagr, hit the jackpot with his wife Inna Puhajkova

Inna is another beauty queen and model from the East, this time the Czech Republic, and apparently she loves a man in a mullet (remember early 90’s Jagr?).

Finally, everyone’s favorite Sean Avery leftover: Elisha Cuthbert. She sure seems to love the hockey players, and why shouldn’t she? With the cocktail of drugs that they pump into their bodies, both legal and otherwise, hockey players are no less volatile than any of the terror threats she’s used to seeing on 24.

Poor judgement aside, this Vancouver-native is a stunner. Former Power Mechanics for Kids hostess turned Girl Next Door, Elisha is the most beautiful woman in nearly any room that she walks into. It’s almost enough to make a guy consider lacing up the skates.

If you’re lucky enough to be in the stands at the Olympics, you may just run across any of these knockouts. For the rest of us, we’ll have to settle for cheering on their guys from our homes, and hopefully making money off of them on a few bets.
